Well friends, it's finally here! Welcome to my blog, Cultivated Curiosity! I wanted to take this time to tell you a bit about myself, why I created this blog, and what I hope you can experience from it.
My name is Jenisha and I am your average young adult gal living in sunny Los Angeles. I currently have a full-time day job, and spend my evenings and weekends on a range of hobbies - this blog being a major one. I decided to create this space as a way of organizing and sharing the clutters of my inner mind (that sounds way more intense that it actually is), and to hopefully engage with more of you, my fellow internet goers, on a daily basis.

As I mentioned, I do have lots of hobbies that keep me occupied when I'm not at work or binge-watching a TV show (which I have to admit, is quite a lot of the time...) I love to cook and bake almost every weekend, and usually end up forcing my family to be my inescapable taste-tester guinea pigs. *cue evil laugh* Though, can they really complain?! Whenever I make something wonderful, or finally perfect a long-time recipe, I will be sure to share it with you all on this site, too! If you re-create a recipe, please make sure to let me know how it goes and/or send me photos! :p
I also love to read quite a bit! When I was a kid, my parents took my sisters and I to the library pretty much every weekend and we had to borrow at least ten books to read during the week. As you can imagine from reading that much at a young age, I quickly developed a (long-time) love for books. Last year, as a college graduation gift to myself, I bought a Kindle, and it's been so convenient and fun to read books on it (though sometimes I do miss the feeling of holding an actual book and turning actual pages). In fact, I might even make a post about the pros and cons of reading on a Kindle!
I want to start writing short reviews every time I finish a book so that in a year's time or so, I can read over them and not forget the wonderful lessons and quotes that books provide us with. I also want to share book reviews on this site so that all of you can read a snapshot of a book before deciding whether it's something you want to read in full. I know that book reviews have always been so helpful for me when deciding what to read next. :)

I'm also trying to make the effort to travel more (whenever time and money permits, of course). I know everyone says that, but last year I got to visit the East Coast for the first time (traveling around New York NY, New Haven CT, Boston MA & Washington D.C), and a couple of months ago I visited Miami FL and Nashville TN. Each of those cities were so amazingly different from anywhere I've lived before (and I've lived in a lot of different places - though more on that in another post), and they were each even better than I imagined once I was actually there. Later this year I will be in London (more about that later, too) which is my ultimate travel destination, and I absolutely can't wait to share all of my experiences with you right here! :D
Finally, I want to use this blog as a way to compile all of my unorganized indescribable thoughts into one organized system of highly-descriptive writing (try saying that ten times fast). Whether it's those oddly philosophical late-night thoughts that creep into our minds while we're trying to fall asleep, or quotes that I read or hear about on a daily basis, I hope that sharing these tidbits will provide you with a little food for thought, a space for stimulating conversation, or simply just a piece for reflection.
I really encourage you to leave comments on posts or email me directly in response to what you read. They could be wonderfully thought-provoking, anecdotally personal, or amusingly relatable - I'd just love to hear from you! And I definitely want to respond to you the best I can, too! I want this to be more of a collaborative space than a simple one-way street where I give you the content to read. I want to hear directly from you! What do you enjoy reading and discussing? What are you excited to learn about? What sparks your interests and hobbies? Please let me know!
See you next time, friends! Take care xx
