I envision the Thoughts section of this blog to be an unconnected but worthwhile compilation of various topics, ideas, quotes, advice, stories, etc. It could be anything I come across that is worth sharing.

Today I want to write about a quick tidying tip.

What? Yes, you heard me right!

People, especially my sisters, always ask how I keep everything so neat and organized all. the. time. Well I’m lucky in that it’s really just part of my character to make sure everything is orderly and organized because simply put, clutter and mess stress me out big time! Plus, tidying daily actually saves you time in the long run since then you won’t have to schedule major cleanings to compensate for the accumulating mess.

I came across this little organization tip a very long time ago, and I've since used it religiously and continue to share it with as many people as I can get to listen to me. So here it is, the secret to keeping everything in its proper place, staying organized, and never losing or misplacing anything ever again…

After finding something you had to search for in several places, put it back in the FIRST place you looked, NOT in the place you found it!

Amazing, right?! It’s so simple and yet so effective. If you cannot for the life of you remember where you left something, then when you begin searching for it, your mind usually sends you to check certain cupboards, drawers, etc first because it associates those areas with that said item. So if you find what you’re looking for somewhere else, put it back in the first place you looked so that the next time your mind takes you to the same first place, you’ll find it there immediately!
